Wow! 2017 was a big year for us here at SMITH. We've got new employees, new partners, and new clients. We've created SMITH Labs that has pushed the boundaries on what ecommerce can be. And we've been posting up a storm. Now that we're in 2018, let's take a look back at what articles were viewed the most last year.
1. New CTO and SAP Hybris Leaders Add to 40% Growth at SMITH
SMITH, the Architects of Future Commerce, today announce the appointment of three new executives: Ryan Heusinkveld as Chief Technology Officer, Christina Lagoda as VP Content & Commerce Consulting, and Kevin Hallum as VP SAP Hybris & Adobe Practice. The senior hires continue an aggressive strategy initiated by CEO Tony Steel to bring clients the best possible vision and execution as they seek to adapt to an increasingly disruptive business environment.
2. Caffeinated Commerce - Ep 1: Alexa in an Episerver Storefront
One of the most exciting benefits of Episerver is its ability to support best-of-breed API connections. To begin exploring what can be done, we decided to integrate Episerver and Amazon’s Alexa AI interface.
3. The Cost of Change: Moving from Magento to Sitecore
Magento 2.0 has arrived with significant changes, and, with support for version 1.9x ending in 2019, we are seeing current Magento customers waffling on whether they should migrate now. If you find yourself on the fence, you should consider the following truths before making the move to Magento 2.0.
4. Can You Out-Amazon Amazon in Grocery?
The acquisition of Whole Foods by Amazon gives the ecommerce giant 465 retail locations across North America that can act as local delivery centers and leverage the incredible number of innovations Amazon has developed in creating Amazon Fresh and Amazon GO, the prototype store that allows customers to checkout without "checking out."
5. SMITH Makes Multi-Million-Dollar Investment in Future Commerce Lab
SMITH, a Forrester-recognized global Commerce Service Provider, today announces its continued expansion with a multi-million-dollar investment in SMITH Labs. This investment is intended to help clients meet the demands of tomorrow’s customer by bridging the gap between imagination and outcome.
6. Rapid Foundation for SAP Hybris
Building a future-proof commerce platform means having a backbone capable of orchestrating multiple best-in-class APIs from diverse services to deliver multidimensional customer experiences. SMITH can help you deliver personalized, human-centricengagements with your customers to accelerate revenue and lower your cost per transaction.
7. Future Commerce and the Internet of Value
As e-Commerce evolves and transforms our online experiences and future commerce, the issues of trust, security, transparency, coherence, and cost-effectiveness are challenges that remain prominent. Online consumer fraud and data breaches has impacted several companies and organizations worldwide such as Target, Yahoo, and most recently Equifax and has had a profound effect on trust and transparency.
8. The Forrester Wave: B2B Commerce Suites Q3 2017
In Forrester's 35-criteria evaluation of B2B commerce suite providers, they identified the 11 most significant vendors — BigCommerce, CloudCraze, Episerver, Handshake, Insite Software, Intershop, Magento Commerce, Oracle NetSuite, Sana Commerce, SAP Hybris, and Unilog — and researched, analyzed, and scored them.
9. A Google ARCore App in 24 Hours and the Coming AR Boom
SMITH Labs allows us to do unnaturally fast and creative things for clients, and is one of the reasons we're leading in the space of delivering tomorrow's commerce experiences today. With Google’s launch of the developer SDK for their augmented reality platform ARCore, and our Ottawa-Gatineau SMITHie Summer Cruise, it was an exciting week.
We have a lot planned this year, like a new office opening in Dayton, Ohio. In 2018, expect to see more content from us like more POVs, webinars, and much more. We can't wait to see what this year has in store for SMITH!
